The 67° edition of the Tre Golfi Sailing Week
Sixty seven years well-worn, the historical Tre Golfi Sailing Week regatta has reached its 67th edition. One of the most popular and crowded competitions of the Italian racing calendar, will take place from Saturday 14 May until Saturday 21 May in the magnificent bay of Santa Lucia, in Naples, under the walls of Castel dell'Ovo to move forward the scenic Mediterranean setting of the Sorrento coast and the Neapolitan islands
The Itinerary
On May 14 at 19, at sunset the historic race that involves 120 boats and 1500 sailors from 15 nations departs from Naples. The boats compete in 150 miles of navigation between Procida, Ventotene, Ponza, Ischia, Li Galli and Capri and, once the finish line is crossed, will stop in Sorrento, Sant'Agnello and Piano di Sorrento.
The Program
The Tre Golfi Sailing Week boasts a rich programme that includes three high-profile events:
Maxi European Championship
The Maxi European Championship will be held for the first time, a very absolute premiere, never competed before. Maximum 25 boats over 18 meters with an average of 25/30 people between crew and shore team, will compete in the first European dedicated to this prestigious Class. It starts with a long distance race on the same route as the classic Tre Golfi (start in front of Castel dell'Ovo at 19:00 on 14 May, ahead of the rest of the fleet), followed by 4 days of inshore testing (from Tuesday 17 to Friday 20 May) with stick or coastal regattas between Capri and Sorrento.
ORC Mediterranean Championship
After 16 years, the The ORC Mediterranean Championship is back. The yachts admitted to the contest are smaller and for this reason more numerous: there will be in fact about 70 boats that, moored between Piano di Sorrento and Sant'Agnello, run for the title of Champion of the Mediterranean and the Tyrrhenian National Championship, valid as a selection for the Italian Championship. The award ceremony is scheduled for May 21 in the Villa Comunale of Sorrento.
